MARK SANCHEZ, PERRY TOLE SETTLE LAWSUIT OVER INDIANAPOLIS STABBING

TUE 13 OCT 2026

A court filing has confirmed that Mark Sanchez and Perry Tole have agreed to settle their civil lawsuit over a stabbing incident in Indianapolis, according to a report in The Indiana Lawyer. The order, filed on Tuesday, cancelled deadlines for evidence-gathering, conferences and trial, and dismissed pending motions. Tole's lawyers are expected to file to formally dismiss the case by 8 January. The settlement does not resolve a separate criminal case against Sanchez.

The case stems from an altercation on 4 October, when Sanchez was in Indianapolis to call a Colts game for Fox Sports. Court records cited in reports say he approached a box truck parked at a hotel's loading dock and told the driver, Tole, he could not park there, claiming he had spoken to the hotel manager. Tole, who was collecting used cooking oil for his company, said Sanchez smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech; one report described the confrontation as a near-fatal brawl. Tole sued Sanchez and Fox Corporation, alleging Sanchez was drunk and started the confrontation, and accusing Fox of negligent hiring. Fox Sports parted ways with Sanchez in November 2025 without giving a reason, replacing him with Drew Brees.

Sanchez filed to plead guilty in September 2026, according to reports, to charges including battery causing serious injury, entering a vehicle without permission, and public intoxication. A court hearing is scheduled for 9 November, when a judge will review his plea and decide on next steps. The agreement with Tole resolves the civil claim but does not affect the criminal case. The settlement could allow Sanchez to close a dispute that has been linked to the end of his broadcasting career.
