CHIEFS TRADE SUPER BOWL-WINNING TACKLE MORRIS TO FALCONS
The Kansas City Chiefs have traded offensive tackle Wanya Morris to the Atlanta Falcons, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. The Chiefs sent Morris and a 2027 seventh-round pick to Atlanta in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick. Morris requested the trade two days before the deal was announced, as reported by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Morris won a Super Bowl ring during his rookie season in 2023 but saw limited opportunity with the Chiefs thereafter. He played a full season only once in his three years with Kansas City, in 2024, after the team moved Kingsley Sumataia from left tackle to guard. An injury during the 2025 season further diminished his prospects, and the Chiefs subsequently signed Jaylon Moore, Josh Simmons and Kahlil Benson to bolster the offensive line. Morris was relegated to scout squad duties this year and was entering the final year of his rookie contract.
The trade allows Atlanta to evaluate Morris during what amounts to a make-or-break season for his career. Had Morris remained with Kansas City and entered free agency without significant playing time this year, his market value would have been substantially limited. The Falcons retain an opportunity to develop Morris or recoup value through a future trade or free agency transaction.
