X FACTOR'S RAY QUINN REVEALS STILLBIRTH OF SON RIO
Singer Ray Quinn, runner-up on the 2006 series of X Factor, has disclosed that his son Rio was stillborn on 20 August 2026. Quinn shared a photograph on Instagram showing himself and his wife Emily holding their son in hospital. In the caption, he wrote that "Heaven gained the most beautiful little Angel" and said the couple had been overjoyed to learn they were expecting a boy. He described the period since as difficult, adding that he and Emily had supported each other through it. Quinn said the family intends to discuss the loss further in an episode of their YouTube series, "The Quinns".
Quinn thanked staff at Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust, naming several individuals who cared for the family, and the Honeysuckle Bereavement Service, which supports women and families after baby loss. He said the week had been the most heartbreaking of their lives but that staff had created meaningful memories for the family to keep. Quinn wrote that going through such an experience had shown him and Emily the extent of support available to bereaved parents, describing it as more than they had expected. He said the couple had not taken the decision to film the forthcoming YouTube episode lightly, calling it a difficult but important one.
Former Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh responded to the announcement with a message of support, referencing the death of her own son, Archie, moments after his birth in 2009. Quinn said he and Emily hoped that speaking publicly about Rio's death would help others facing similar circumstances. No further details of additional support or next steps beyond the planned YouTube episode were given.
