CADDIE DARREN WOOLARD QUITS ON DAVID LIPSKY IN JAPAN
Caddie Darren Woolard stepped away from golfer David Lipsky during the final round of the Baycurrent Classic at Yokohama Country Club in Japan, according to a report by Golfweek's Adam Schupak. The report said Woolard effectively told Lipsky to find a replacement for Sunday's round. Neither Lipsky nor Woolard has publicly commented on the reported split. The tournament ran from 8 to 11 October and, as a no-cut event, Lipsky played all four rounds regardless of the dispute. Coverage of the episode described it as the second such caddie split reported in recent weeks, though no further detail on the earlier case was given.
Lipsky opened with a 66 on Thursday before rounds of 72 and 73 followed, including bogeys on two of his last three holes on Saturday. He bogeyed four of his first five holes on Sunday but recovered to shoot a one-under 70, finishing tied for 54th at three under for the tournament. Woolard had caddied for Lipsky since the 2025 John Deere Classic, including their best finish together at the Valspar Championship in March, where Lipsky finished runner-up to Matt Fitzpatrick at 10 under, one shot off the win. That result earned Lipsky $991,900 and 300 FedEx Cup points, and reports said it helped him secure conditional status for signature events after the Masters. The pair also finished tied for third at the John Deere Classic and the 3M Open during the season.
Lipsky remains without a PGA Tour title. He turned professional in 2011 after attending Northwestern University and has won the 2012 Handa Faldo Cambodian Classic, the 2014 Omega European Masters and the 2018 Alfred Dunhill Championship, none of which were PGA Tour events. One report noted he was winless in 104 PGA Tour events when he led the 2024 Procore Championship after its opening round. It remains unclear who will caddie for Lipsky going forward, as neither he nor Woolard has addressed the split publicly.
