ARIZONA CARDINALS FINALISE TRADE OF MARVIN HARRISON JR
The Arizona Cardinals are finalising a trade to move on from wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr, according to sources cited by NFL reporters including Adam Schefter. Harrison was informed he would be inactive for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions while details of the deal are completed. One report stated the move is past the point of no return, with Harrison absent from Saturday night team meetings ahead of the Week Five fixture. According to that account, the Cardinals have delayed finalising the trade in the hope of securing more value from a team such as the Houston Texans, or in case injuries elsewhere create added urgency for a deal. The destination team has not been confirmed.
Harrison, selected with the fourth overall pick, recorded 62 receptions for 885 yards and eight touchdowns across 17 games in his rookie season, figures that marked him as a receiver of considerable promise. His production declined in his second season to 608 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 12 games. Through the first four games of this season, under head coach Mike LaFleur, he has managed just five catches for 85 yards and one touchdown, including a game without a reception against the Seattle Seahawks in Week Two. One report said Arizona has told inquiring teams it wants first-round value in return for him.
One source said the Cardinals could in theory reverse course and keep Harrison, though doing so would risk a negative reaction from the player or his father, Hall of Fame receiver Marvin Harrison Sr. Reports differed on timing, with one suggesting the deal could be completed after Sunday's game or held until Tuesday, while the other indicated the trade was already being finalised this week. The identity of the acquiring team remains unconfirmed.
