SHESTERKIN OUT FOR SEASON WITH LOWER-BODY INJURY

SUN 11 OCT 2026

New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin will miss the rest of the season after sustaining a lower-body injury, the team has confirmed. He was hurt during the second period of a loss to the Washington Capitals on Friday night.

The injury has fuelled speculation linking the Rangers to a trade for Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, among other rumours circulating during the second week of the 2026-27 NHL season.
