BEN AFFLECK SAYS ROSAMUND PIKE'S GONE GIRL ROLE STILL UNSETTLES HIM

THU 08 OCT 2026

Ben Affleck has said his Gone Girl co-star Rosamund Pike still unsettles him more than a decade after they filmed together, according to an interview with Variety. Affleck played Nick Dunne, a man suspected in the disappearance of his wife, Amy Dunne, in the 2014 thriller directed by David Fincher. He told Variety he is "still afraid" of Pike, impersonating her on-screen manner and British accent during the interview. Affleck said she "still has that quality" and described her performance in the film as "great".

Gone Girl, based on Gillian Flynn's novel of the same name, follows Nick and Amy Dunne, a married couple whose relationship unravels after Amy disappears on their wedding anniversary. Nick becomes the prime suspect before it emerges that Amy staged her own disappearance to frame him. Pike received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for the role in 2015; the award went to Julianne Moore for Still Alice. Jon Hamm had originally been considered for the role of Nick Dunne but was unavailable because of his commitments to the television series Mad Men, then filming its sixth season.

Affleck's comments highlight the lasting impression Pike's portrayal of Amy Dunne has left more than ten years after the film's release. The performance remains one of the most discussed of Pike's career and brought her the Oscar nomination at the time. Affleck's remarks came as part of a wider conversation looking back on the making of the film, during which he also recalled Hamm's earlier consideration for the lead role. No further details were given about future projects involving the pair.
