MLB PROPOSES SHORTER SEASON AND PLAYOFF SEEDING CHANGES
Major League Baseball has proposed cutting the regular season from 162 to 154 games starting in 2029, according to reports from the ongoing labour talks. The proposal includes a "standard" off day each week and a bulked-up playoff schedule.
Under the plan, higher-seed teams would gain the ability to pick their opponents in the playoffs. The proposal forms part of broader labour negotiations, though no agreement has yet been confirmed.
