MAN CHARGED WITH 13 ATTEMPTED MURDER COUNTS AFTER ALPS PLAYGROUND ATTACK

A man has been charged with 13 counts of attempted murder over a knife attack at a playground in the French Alps, according to reports. A British toddler was among those hurt in the attack, the reports said. The scale of the charges indicates that several people were targeted at the play area. Reports described the incident as a "knife attack," indicating a blade was used against those present, including the toddler. The toddler's nationality has drawn particular attention to the case in Britain.

One report said residents connected to the case reacted with shock on learning that the man had been charged with attempted murder. That report did not specify the exact town within the French Alps where the attack happened. Reports reviewed did not name the man or confirm his nationality, nor did they identify the other people covered by the 13 counts. The condition of those other alleged victims has not been detailed beyond confirmation that the toddler was hurt. Reports also did not set out what led to the attack or how it unfolded.

The charges mean the case is now set to proceed through the French legal system, according to reports. No date has been reported for any further court hearing. Reports have not confirmed the toddler's condition following the attack. French authorities have not been quoted directly in connection with the charges. Further details, including the identities of those involved, are expected to emerge as the case continues, according to reports.
