ANTONIO BROWN MOCKS PATRICK MAHOMES OVER MAXX CROSBY TACKLE REMARK
Antonio Brown criticised Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes on social media, referencing a claim by Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby that Mahomes makes a noise resembling a moan when tackled. Crosby made the remark on his podcast, co-hosted with Brogan Roback, after the two players met in a Week 4 fixture between the Raiders and the Chiefs. Roback asked Crosby what sound Mahomes makes when brought down, and Crosby responded by impersonating a grunt, which Roback suggested could be described as a whine. Crosby has sacked Mahomes six and a half times across their meetings, including a half-sack in the Week 4 game. Before that game, Crosby had described facing Mahomes as "war" on his podcast.
The Chiefs beat the Raiders in Week 4, with Mahomes completing 15 of 30 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. He averaged 7.5 yards per pass, recorded a 97.2 passer rating and a 63.6 QBR, and was sacked twice for a combined loss of 15 yards. Mahomes has now beaten the Raiders 14 times in 16 meetings and has never lost at Allegiant Stadium. The rivalry between Mahomes and Crosby has included physical and verbal clashes in previous games, including an occasion when Crosby headbutted Mahomes and another when Mahomes repeatedly told Crosby "I'm here all day" after throwing a touchdown pass to Travis Kelce. Crosby told Von Miller on a podcast in 2023 that Mahomes talks back at him during games, which he said was unusual among quarterbacks.
Despite the on-field exchanges, Crosby and Mahomes are reported to hold mutual respect for each other off the field. Brown's comments add to the public exchanges surrounding the rivalry following the Week 4 game. No further statements from Mahomes or the Chiefs organisation regarding Brown's remarks have been reported.
