BT CHIEF EXECUTIVE ALLISON KIRKBY RECEIVES £5.6M PAY PACKAGE
BT chief executive Allison Kirkby received a total pay and bonus package of £5.6m last year, more than double her previous award. The figure represents the largest pay settlement for a BT chief executive in more than a decade. Kirkby took the helm at BT in February 2024, stepping up from her position on the board. The package comprises pay, bonus, and a share award.
BT's share price rose by nearly 80% during the period since Kirkby assumed the chief executive role. The increase in her remuneration package directly follows that share price performance. BT is one of the United Kingdom's largest telecommunications companies, operating both consumer and business divisions. The scale of the award reflects the company's long-standing practice of linking executive pay to shareholder returns.
The pay disclosure forms part of BT's annual reporting cycle and will be subject to scrutiny from shareholders and governance bodies. Executive pay at major British listed companies requires approval through shareholder votes under UK corporate governance rules. The size of the award places Kirkby among the higher-paid chief executives in the British telecoms sector. BT has not announced any further changes to its executive remuneration structure at this stage.
