HENRY RUGGS III DENIED PAROLE BY NEVADA BOARD OF PAROLE COMMISSIONERS
The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners has denied parole to former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III. Ruggs appeared before the board in May, where he took responsibility for the 2021 death of Tina Tintor and her dog. He told the board he thinks about Tintor every day and prays for her family. The board had indicated it would deliver a decision by 14 June.
Ruggs pleaded guilty in 2023 to one count of DUI resulting in death and one count of misdemeanour manslaughter, receiving a sentence of three to ten years in prison. Investigators found he was travelling at 156 mph at the time of the crash and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.16, twice the legal limit in Nevada. The Raiders released Ruggs shortly after he was charged. He had been selected by Las Vegas with the 12th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and recorded 79 receptions for 921 yards and four touchdowns across 20 games before his release.
Following Thursday's denial, Ruggs becomes eligible for parole again on 24 August 2027. He will meet with the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners approximately three months before that date. The earliest he could have been released under Thursday's hearing was 5 August of this year.
