RAMS ASSISTANT COACHES EXCHANGE GESTURES WITH EAGLES FANS

TUE 06 OCT 2026 US SPORTS

The Los Angeles Rams beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-20 at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, but celebrations after a late touchdown led to a confrontation between Rams coaching staff and Eagles supporters. Footage posted by MLFootball showed members of the Rams' coaching staff banging on glass separating their box from the stands and exchanging middle fingers with fans. The exchange followed a go-ahead touchdown from Rams running back Kyren Williams. Fans responded by throwing drinks towards the glass, according to the footage. The Rams have not said which members of the coaching staff were involved.

Williams' go-ahead score came during a 14-point unanswered run for the Rams, with quarterback Matthew Stafford leading two late scoring drives in the fourth quarter. The contest was a closely fought NFC matchup that went back and forth before the Rams pulled away late on. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said afterwards that his team's offensive unit "hasn't been good enough" this season. He said the side was still working out its identity while playing with detail, togetherness and toughness. Sirianni added that the Eagles "still got ways to go" in establishing that identity.

The footage prompted a mixed reaction online, with some describing the coaching staff's conduct as a poor look given the result. Others placed blame partly on Eagles supporters, with one comment suggesting fans had taunted the Rams coaches throughout the game. Rams head coach Sean McVay spoke to his assistants after the match and said they would "learn" from what was described as a taunting incident, according to reports. The win moved the Rams to 2-2 for the season and handed Philadelphia its second successive defeat.
