LAMAR JACKSON LEAVES RAVENS WIN WITH ANKLE INJURY
Lamar Jackson left the Baltimore Ravens' Week 4 win over the Tennessee Titans after suffering an ankle injury late in the first half. Tennessee defensive end Jermaine Johnson II sacked Jackson from behind as the quarterback twisted his left ankle while attempting to escape the tackle. Jackson did not return for the second half, with Tyler Huntley taking over under centre, and was later seen in a protective walking boot at M&T Bank Stadium, according to one report. Jackson reacted to footage of the play on social media, writing "🤕 ouch". The Ravens went on to win the game 24-18.
Before the injury, Jackson had completed 15 of 20 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns, along with 20 rushing yards. Ravens head coach Jesse Minter said after the game that the team did not yet have enough information about the extent of the injury, describing it as "a little bit of an ankle" issue, and said there had been discussion about Jackson returning to the field. Minter praised Huntley for managing the offence in Jackson's absence. A doctor who reviewed video of the play, Jesse Morse of Injury Expertz, said on social media that the injury appeared to be a left high-ankle sprain, which he assessed as hopefully a mild grade one.
Jackson's availability for the Ravens' Week 5 fixture remains uncertain. One report said he is expected to undergo an MRI scan on the ankle. Minter said the coaching staff would need to assess Jackson's condition in the coming days before determining his status.
