PICKFORD PLEADS GUILTY TO CARELESS DRIVING CHARGE
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention after an incident involving his Lamborghini Urus in Knutsford, Cheshire, a court has heard. According to court documents, Pc Cecil Ricardo of Cheshire Police said he saw Pickford's blue Lamborghini, fitted with personalised number plates, ignore give way lines at the junction of Princess Street and Toft Road on 14 April, forcing two vehicles to brake sharply to avoid a collision. The officer said he pursued the car with lights and siren activated, reaching 50mph himself while the Lamborghini was still pulling away, on a stretch of road with a 30mph limit. Pickford appeared to notice the pursuing police car and pulled over, the officer said. He entered his guilty plea in writing under the Single Justice Procedure.
Pickford asked to attend court in person to present mitigation, and his case was adjourned last week to a hearing at Chester Magistrates' Court on 7 December. Reports differ on the value of the vehicle involved, with one putting it at around £200,000 and another at around £165,000. Pickford began his career at Sunderland before loan spells at several clubs, including Burton Albion, Bradford City and Preston North End, ahead of his move to Everton, for whom he has made 336 appearances.
Pickford has won 92 caps for England and has played at the 2018, 2022 and 2026 World Cups, as well as in the Euro 2020 and Euro 2024 finals. The outcome of his case will be determined at the Chester Magistrates' Court hearing in December, when he is expected to set out his mitigation in person. No further legal steps have been confirmed beyond that date.
