FEHOKO CALLS FOR CHARGERS STAFF SACKING AFTER WINLESS START
Former Los Angeles Chargers player Breiden Fehoko said on social media that the team should sack a member of its staff following a run of defeats that left the side winless through the opening weeks of the 2026 season. Posting on X on 4 October, Fehoko named head coach Jim Harbaugh, general manager Joe Hortiz and offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel as possible candidates, writing that "someone needs to be fired" and calling for the organisation to "stop leading fans with false hope and start taking accountability." The Chargers followed that run with a 30-23 defeat to the Seattle Seahawks, extending their losing streak to four games, according to Sportskeeda. The team had started last season 3-0 before this year's decline.
The Chargers have struggled on offence, particularly along the interior offensive line, which has suffered several injuries this season. Quarterback Justin Herbert has thrown four interceptions in three games, giving him an interception rate of 4.5%, compared with a previous career-worst rate of 2.5%, according to figures cited by EssentiallySports. The defence forced five turnovers in a loss to the Buffalo Bills but the team still lost that game. Sports Illustrated analyst Brennan Isham pointed to a disconnect between the front office's decisions and the team's needs, with responsibility for player recruitment resting with Hortiz as general manager.
Fehoko said the offseason changes to personnel and the interior line, along with preseason expectations of a deep playoff run, had not translated into results on the field. He argued that the coaching staff had failed to identify or address more fundamental problems within the team. No club official has confirmed any staffing changes following Fehoko's comments or the defeat to Seattle.
