San Francisco 49ers beat the Denver Broncos 24-14, moving to 4-0 for the season. Head coach Kyle Shanahan recorded his 95th win in charge of the franchise, passing Bill Walsh for the most games coached in the club's history. Quarterback Brock Purdy threw two touchdown passes, including a 56-yard score to tight end George Kittle with under two minutes left in the fourth quarter. That touchdown extended San Francisco's lead to 24-14, a margin that held until the final whistle. Broncos kicker Wil Lutz missed a 58-yard field goal attempt with 1:18 remaining, after which Purdy ran out the clock.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first half, with the score tied at 3-3 until 4:15 remained in the third quarter. Deebo Samuel scored San Francisco's first touchdown shortly after Broncos punt returner Marvin Mims lost a fumble, the only turnover of the game. Christian McCaffrey added a one-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter at the end of a 74-yard drive. Denver responded with Jaylen Waddle's first touchdown for the team, but Kittle's score limited the Broncos' chances of a late comeback. Quarterback Bo Nix finished 25 of 42 for 214 yards passing.

According to NBC Sports, Denver's offence has shown inconsistency through the opening weeks of the season, which may prompt questions for head coach Sean Payton over whether he will resume playcalling duties himself. The report also said Payton is likely to face questions about the team's injury situation. San Francisco's win keeps the 49ers unbeaten after four games, while Denver's defeat means the Broncos must again rely on their pattern of late rallies, which did not succeed this time, Yahoo Sports reported.
