JEREMIAH SMITH BECOMES OHIO STATE'S ALL-TIME TOUCHDOWN LEADER

Jeremiah Smith set Ohio State's career touchdown reception record during a game against Iowa at Kinnick Stadium, according to Ohio State Football. The Buckeyes wide receiver caught a 57-yard touchdown pass from Julian Sayin in the third quarter, taking his career total to 36 touchdown receptions and moving him past Chris Olave's previous mark of 35. Smith celebrated by striking the Heisman pose toward the end zone crowd. Yahoo Sports reported that Ohio State defeated Iowa, who had been ranked 14th, while CBS Sports said Smith needed only 34 career games to break the touchdown and receptions records. Chris Olave congratulated Smith afterwards, saying he had "something on our hands" since Smith's freshman year and wishing him well for his future in the NFL, according to Ohio State Football.

Smith's touchdown record surpasses a list of previous Ohio State leaders that includes Olave with 35, David Boston with 34, Marvin Harrison Jr. with 31 and Devin Smith with 30. He reached the mark by scoring 15 touchdowns during Ohio State's 2024 national championship season and 12 in 2025, entering this season with 27 career touchdowns before adding seven more in his first four games as a junior. Against Illinois on 26 September, Smith caught 12 passes for 217 yards and four touchdowns, tying Ohio State's single-game touchdown record and leaving him one short of Olave's mark at the time. CBS Sports reported that Smith also passed Emeka Egbuka for Ohio State's career receptions record during the Iowa game.

Marvin Harrison Jr. credited Smith with completing what he described as the receiving "Triple Crown" of records for receptions, yards and touchdowns, according to Ohio State Football. Jaxon Smith-Njigba said Smith had "lived up to the hype, exceeded the hype" since watching him play in secondary school. Smith has games remaining on Ohio State's schedule in which he could extend his touchdown total further.
