PANTHERS PLACE XAVIER LEGETTE ON INJURED RESERVE WITH KNEE INJURY

SAT 03 OCT 2026 US SPORTS

The Carolina Panthers have placed wide receiver Xavier Legette on injured reserve because of a knee injury, the team said. Legette had already missed the Panthers' loss to the Cleveland Browns the previous week. He was ruled out on Friday for Sunday night's home game against the Detroit Lions, before being placed on injured reserve on Saturday. Under NFL rules, he must now miss a minimum of four games before he is eligible to return. That means Legette will be sidelined for at least the next month of the Panthers' schedule.

Legette sustained the injury while making a 55-yard catch during Carolina's Week Two win over the Atlanta Falcons. That reception and a nine-yard catch in the same game are his only recorded catches this season. With Legette unavailable, the Panthers elevated wide receiver Ja'seem Reed and cornerback Robert Rochell from the practice squad for the Lions game. Reed is expected to provide receiving depth, with fellow wide receiver Jalen Coker also listed as questionable because of a quad injury. The Panthers placed both of their starting cornerbacks on injured reserve this week, which created the need to elevate Rochell.

Carolina's move came in the same week that the Seattle Seahawks placed rookie running back Jadarian Price on injured reserve. Seattle said Price re-aggravated a chest injury and was ruled out of the Seahawks' Week Four game. Like Legette, Price must miss a minimum of four games under league injury reserve rules. His absence leaves Emanuel Wilson and George Holani to share backfield duties for the Seahawks. Both clubs' roster moves reflect the number of injured reserve placements made across the NFL this week.
