ELI MANNING COMMENTS ON ARCH MANNING'S COLLEGE ELIGIBILITY

SAT 03 OCT 2026 FOOTBALL

Eli Manning said his brother Arch should treat his remaining time at Texas as a chance to enjoy college, not just a step toward the NFL, in an episode of The Colin Cowherd Podcast released on 1 October. Arch, who redshirted as a true freshman in 2023, still has a season of eligibility unused, meaning he can enter the 2027 NFL draft after this season or return to Texas to play in 2027. Eli said college offered chances to improve, chase championships and build relationships with teammates. He said he was proud of how Arch had approached the decision and his mindset. Analysts project Arch as a top-three pick in the 2027 draft.

The Manning family has a long history in college and professional football. Archie Manning played at Ole Miss and was picked second overall in the 1971 draft. Peyton Manning spent four seasons at Tennessee, won the Southeastern Conference title in 1997 and was named most valuable player in a 30-29 win over Auburn, before being picked first overall in 1998. Eli Manning redshirted at Ole Miss, started four seasons and was picked first overall in 2004. No Manning has won a national championship, and Peyton is the only one of the three to have won a conference title.

Texas has won all four games this season, beating Tennessee on 26 September. Arch has completed 73 of 115 passes for 862 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions, with a 63.5% completion rate and 141.3 passer rating. The 2025 season was his first full year as Texas's starting quarterback. Eli Manning did not say whether Arch will enter the 2027 draft or play another season at Texas.
