WALES BEAT 10-MAN NORWAY IN CARDIFF FRIENDLY
Wales secured a victory over 10-man Norway in Cardiff, marking the side's first win of the year under manager Craig Bellamy. Oscar Bobb put Norway ahead in the first half, finishing a move created by captain Martin Ødegaard, who had taken the ball off Sander Berge before setting up the goal. Daniel James equalised for Wales after Liam Cullen won back possession from Berge and combined with Lewis Koumas to set up the move, with Sorba Thomas delivering the cross that James converted. Seventeen seconds into the second half, Norway's Torbjørn Heggem was sent off for fouling James as he ran towards goal. Wales converted the resulting free-kick through Neco Williams to complete the fightback and claim all three points.
Bellamy had described Norway, who reached the World Cup quarter-finals, as one of the best teams in the world before kick-off. His team made five changes from their defeat in Denmark the previous Sunday, with Koumas restored to the starting lineup. Norway fielded five Premier League regulars, including two Fulham players, among them Bobb and Berge. Erling Haaland started for Norway but did not score, and was targeted by chants from Welsh supporters during the match. Ben Davies captained Wales, with Danny Ward in goal.
The result gives Wales their first win of the calendar year. Bellamy's side had suffered defeat in Denmark in their previous fixture before travelling home for the Norway match. No further fixture details were confirmed in the reporting.
