ENTER SHIKARI ANNOUNCE HIATUS FROM END OF 2027

THU 01 OCT 2026

Enter Shikari have announced plans to become dormant as a recording and performing entity from 31 December 2027, saying the break "may end with extinction" or could eventually lead to renewed activity. The band, founded in St Albans in 1999 under the name Hybryd, said they do not know which outcome awaits them. Before the hiatus begins, the group are scheduled to tour the UK in November, followed by dates in mainland Europe and America next year. They said they want to play some of their favourite venues "one last time" during that run.

In a statement, the band noted that 2027 will mark 20 years since the release of their debut album. They said they have been playing music together since the age of 15 and have been friends for even longer. The band described operating for two decades in what they called a cultural landscape that favours easily categorised art, saying this has not always been easy for them professionally or personally. They said the difficulties of that path have had a negative impact on mental health at times when they were required to keep producing new material.

Despite the challenges described, the band said they continue to make music because they love doing so and credited their audience with understanding why they have taken a less conventional route. They said the terrain of that path has, over time, begun to wear down "the humble traveller". No details were given on individual members' plans during the dormant period. The band's statement did not specify what, if anything, would prompt a return to activity after 2027.
