CLAUDIA WINKLEMAN BANNED FROM JEWELLERY ON CELEBRITY TRAITORS SET

THU 01 OCT 2026 CELEBRITY

Executive producer Sarah Fay told a BBC screening of The Celebrity Traitors that presenter Claudia Winkleman is banned from wearing jewellery while selecting the Traitors at the roundtable, in case it makes a noise. Fay said production staff are "very strict" on the rule. During the selection, contestants sit blindfolded while Winkleman walks behind them and taps the shoulders of those chosen to be Traitors. She must avoid any sound that could give away her choices to the group. The new series is set to air on BBC One.

Winkleman said she wears "spiky, noisy, scary shoes" during the roundtable selection and deliberately taps them on the floor to mislead contestants about her movements, describing the process as feeling "like I'm doing flamenco because I stop a lot." She said she "gets scared" and "panics" while picking the Traitors. One report said producers have also barred her from wearing noisy fabric for the same reason. Winkleman has become known for distinctive outfits on the show, including tartan, knitwear, chunky boots and oversized coats. She described her style on the series as "human crow meets golf caddie meets the artful dodger."

This year's line-up includes actor Richard E Grant, presenter Maya Jama and comedian Romesh Ranganathan among the celebrities taking part. Contestants are competing to win up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice. The format sees players compete as either "Faithfuls" or secretly selected "Traitors" during the series. Winkleman's roundtable selection process takes place before filming begins, determining which contestants are designated as Traitors from the outset.
