PACKERS AGREE DEAL WITH OFFENSIVE LINEMAN KEVIN ZEITLER
Kevin Zeitler has agreed to sign with the Green Bay Packers, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter. The veteran offensive lineman took a visit with the Packers before the agreement was reached. Zeitler spent last season with the Tennessee Titans, starting 16 games for the team. He was selected 27th overall in the 2012 NFL Draft. Over his career, Zeitler has started 213 games across spells with the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions and Titans.
The move comes as the Packers continue to make changes to their offensive line following a defeat to the Atlanta Falcons the previous week. Green Bay had already added fellow veterans Laken Tomlinson and Mekhi Becton in the days before agreeing terms with Zeitler. According to Yahoo Sports, the signing represents a significant overhaul of the offensive line after what the outlet described as a poor start to the season. The additions bring experienced depth to a unit that has faced scrutiny following the team's recent results.
Green Bay is next scheduled to play away against Tampa Bay on Sunday, where the newly bolstered offensive line is expected to face its first test. The Packers have not confirmed further personnel moves beyond the additions of Zeitler, Tomlinson and Becton. No further details on contract terms for Zeitler's agreement have been reported.
