SAMSUNG LAUNCHES GALAXY TAB S12 PLUS AND ULTRA TABLETS
Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab S12 Plus and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, its flagship tablets for 2026, alongside the Galaxy SmartTag 3 tracker with iOS support. The Tab S12 Ultra features a 14.6-inch AMOLED display, a 5.1mm-thick body, a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, an 11,600mAh battery with 45W charging, and up to 1TB of storage. The Tab S12 Plus has a 12.6-inch display, a 10,600mAh battery, up to 512GB of storage and a single rear camera. Both devices carry an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, come with an S Pen stylus included, and support seven years of Android updates, according to the reports. Both models go on sale from 7 October in grey or silver, with the Plus starting at £1,199/$1,200 and the Ultra at £1,399/$1,400.
Samsung has described the Ultra as its slimmest and most powerful tablet yet, citing up to 61% faster NPU processing, 19% faster CPU performance and 17% improved GPU performance compared with the previous Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. One report noted that, since the Galaxy Tab S10 series, Samsung has updated the Ultra annually while alternating updates between the regular and Plus tablets, meaning there is no standard Tab S12 model this year. According to that report, the Plus represents a more substantial overhaul compared with the two-year-old Tab S10 Plus, while the Ultra's changes over the Tab S11 Ultra are limited mainly to the new chipset and upgraded four-channel spatial audio. Both tablets also gain Adobe Photoshop for Tablets on Android, which will be exclusive to the Galaxy Store for six months and includes AI features and S Pen support.
Samsung is also including bundled subscriptions with the new tablets, including six months of Google AI Pro and Notability and four months of Photoshop, according to one report. Pricing for both tablets has risen compared with the previous generation, with the Plus increasing by $200 to its new starting price. Australian pricing and availability have not yet been confirmed. Wi-Fi connectivity differs between the two models, with the Ultra supporting Wi-Fi 7 and the Plus limited to Wi-Fi 6E.
