BRAD KESELOWSKI TO STEP DOWN AS RFK RACING DRIVER

WED 30 SEP 2026 F1/MOTORSPORT

RFK Racing announced on Tuesday that Brad Keselowski will step down as driver of its No. 6 Ford once the current NASCAR Cup Series season ends, with six races remaining. The move ends a five-season run in which Keselowski combined driving with a co-ownership stake in the team. RFK Racing said it and Keselowski would decide "collaboratively and mutually" what happens to his ownership stake. The team gave no detailed explanation for the split. The decision leaves open what happens to the "K" in the RFK Racing name.

Keselowski joined Roush Fenway Racing in 2022 after leaving Team Penske, taking on driving duties and the role of head of competition. The team had gone 163 races without a win at the time. It returned to victory lane under Keselowski and was renamed RFK Racing, winning at Darlington in 2024. NASCAR insider Jordan Bianchi reported that Keselowski is set to give up his ownership stake because of disagreements with the team over its future direction. Friction between the two sides is reported to have built up over several months, though neither has detailed the specific issues involved.

Keselowski has publicly criticised what he describes as unequal treatment from Ford, RFK Racing's manufacturer partner, compared with the larger Team Penske organisation. Two weeks ago at Gateway, the 2012 Cup Series champion said he wished Ford considered RFK good enough to receive its best engines, and suggested the team gets lesser equipment than Penske. The comments came amid growing speculation about his future with the team. Keselowski's plans beyond the end of the 2026 season have not been confirmed. RFK Racing has not said who will drive the No. 6 Ford from 2027.
