JEREMY ALLEN WHITE NEARLY TURNED DOWN SOCIAL RECKONING ROLE
Jeremy Allen White has said he almost turned down the role of journalist Jeff Horwitz in Aaron Sorkin's The Social Reckoning. White said he became nervous about playing another real person immediately after finishing work on Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, in which he portrayed Bruce Springsteen. He said he told Sorkin straight away that he was unsure about taking on another role based on a real figure. White and co-star Mikey Madison appeared together at the film's premiere in London on Tuesday night. Madison led the arrivals in a strapless pale yellow beaded dress.
The Social Reckoning is described as Sorkin's 2026 follow-up to The Social Network. White plays Horwitz, a Wall Street Journal reporter, while Madison plays Frances Haugen, a former Facebook employee. The film centres on the pair working together to expose secrets held by the social media company. White has taken on several real-life roles in recent years, including wrestler Kerry Von Erich in The Iron Claw. His portrayal of Springsteen was his most recent role before joining The Social Reckoning.
White said Sorkin reassured him that the portrayal would be his own version of Horwitz rather than a strict biographical likeness. He said this reassurance came after he raised his concerns about repeatedly playing real people. The comments came as the film had its premiere in London, ahead of a planned 2026 release. Madison's pale yellow dress drew attention as she joined White at the event.
