EAGLES QB JALEN HURTS CLEARED TO RETURN AFTER HIT BY JACKSON
Chicago Bears linebacker D'Marco Jackson hit Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts during Monday Night Football at Soldier Field, and ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that team medical staff evaluated Hurts for a concussion and cleared him to return. The hit occurred with 8:37 left in the second quarter, as Hurts scrambled two yards towards the sideline and Jackson struck him just after he stepped out of bounds, drawing an unnecessary roughness penalty. Hurts fell to the ground, got up after a brief pause and walked to the Eagles' huddle. Philadelphia's medical staff pulled him aside for further checks, and backup quarterback Andy Dalton took over for the next series.
Hurts left the medical tent visibly frustrated after watching an interception from the sideline, the report said. He drank water and moved around without apparent discomfort before returning to the field ahead of halftime. He capped Philadelphia's final drive of the half with a one-yard quarterback sneak that cut Chicago's lead to 10-7 at the break. Jackson, in his second season with the Bears after two seasons with the New Orleans Saints, took on a larger defensive role in 2025. He made his first career start in Week 12 and recorded his first sack and interception in that game against Cleveland, earning NFC Defensive Player of the Week honours.
The Bears re-signed Jackson to a two-year, $7.5 million contract in March. ESPN reported Chicago saw him as capable of a bigger middle linebacker role after Tremaine Edmunds' departure. Bears head coach Ben Johnson called Philadelphia "a really good team coming in" before kick-off. Other reports said the Eagles went on to lose to a Bears side led by quarterback Case Keenum.
