TRIAL FINDS PROSTATE CANCER RADIOTHERAPY MATCHES SURGERY RESULTS
A trial led by the Royal Marsden has identified a five-session radiotherapy treatment for prostate cancer that researchers say is as effective as surgery but causes fewer major side effects. The treatment is described as non-invasive, with researchers saying it avoids the debilitating urinary and sexual side effects often associated with surgical treatment.
Researchers said thousands of men with prostate cancer could benefit from the approach as an alternative to surgery.
