LEBRON JAMES SAYS HE WANTS TO HELP EMBIID WIN TITLE

LeBron James has said he wants to help Joel Embiid win his first NBA championship after joining the Philadelphia 76ers. James made the comments on the Mind the Game podcast, which he hosts with Steve Nash. He said Embiid has achieved almost everything possible in the league except a title. James listed Embiid's MVP award, Olympic gold medal, All-Star selections, signature shoe deal and standing in Philadelphia as evidence of his achievements. He said the missing championship is now something he wants to help deliver.

Embiid has spent his entire NBA career with the 76ers since Philadelphia selected him with the third pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. He won the league's Most Valuable Player award for the 2022-23 season, has been named to seven All-Star Games, and won an Olympic gold medal. Despite this individual success, the 76ers have not reached the NBA Finals during his time as the team's leading player. Embiid signed a three-year contract extension with the franchise in 2024, reportedly worth $192.9 million, at which point he said he wanted to remain in Philadelphia and help the city win a championship. James described Embiid's time with the team as a long process spanning around ten to twelve years.

James, speaking on the podcast, said he wants to bring a different perspective to what is required to win a title alongside Embiid. He said the pair now need to look more closely at what he called "the process" of building a championship-winning team. The comments came as part of James's broader explanation for signing with the 76ers as a free agent, according to CBS Sports, which reported that James gave three main reasons for the move, including his stated wish to help Embiid win a title. No further details on James's contract terms or the team's upcoming season plans were included in the available reporting.
