MANCHESTER UNITED SELL OLD TRAFFORD PITCH PIECES FOR £125 EACH
Manchester United have started selling small sections of the Old Trafford pitch for £125 each, the club has confirmed. The sale was announced on the same day United published financial results showing the club's overall debt remains above £1bn. According to the club, the first batch of pitch pieces put on sale has already sold out. The results also showed a record revenue of £677.6m and an operating profit of £22.6m for the 2025-26 financial year. The club reported a pre-tax loss of £43m for the same period.
Manchester United, 13-time Premier League champions, dug up the Old Trafford pitch this summer for the first time in 14 years, stripping it back to its foundation. Sections of the turf were preserved during the work instead of being discarded. Pieces measuring 7cm by 7cm have been set inside glass cubes, which are presented in a black case. The club's website describes the cubes as a "priceless memento of iconic games played at home" that "keeps the memories of matchdays alive". The same results also confirmed that £63.5m has been spent on buying land for the club's new stadium.
The new stadium is expected to cost more than £2bn overall, according to the club. The land purchases disclosed alongside the pitch sale form part of that wider development. United's results show record revenue and an operating profit alongside a pre-tax loss and debt exceeding £1bn for the 2025-26 financial year. The pitch-piece sale and the stadium spending were disclosed together as part of the same financial announcement.
