FRANCES BEAN COBAIN RETURNS TO RED CARPET AFTER EIGHT YEARS
Frances Bean Cobain made her first public red carpet appearance in eight years at a screening of the action film The Deputy in Los Angeles on Tuesday. She is listed as an executive producer on the film, according to IMDb. Cobain, the daughter of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, wore a brown leather jacket, a ripped T-shirt, black shorts and white boots. Her last public appearance had been at the Moschino Spring/Summer 20 show in June 2019, and her last red carpet event before this week was in 2018.
Cobain is married to Riley Hawk, son of former professional skateboarder Tony Hawk. The couple's son, Ronin, was born in 2024, and Cobain recently marked his second birthday with photographs posted on Instagram. In the caption, she called him a "sweet potato fanatic, free wheeling, adrenaline seeking, nature loving, wind in the willows, sunshine boy." She wrote that she and Hawk often say to each other, "I can't believe we made him." Cobain added that she would "live through every hard thing 1,000 times again" for the life she now shares with her son.
Cobain also used Instagram in 2024 to mark the 30th anniversary of her father's death; Kurt Cobain died by suicide on 5 April 1994. She wrote, "30 years ago my dad's life ended," saying two photographs she shared showed the last time the pair were together while he was alive. She recalled that her paternal grandmother, Wendy, would press her hands to her cheeks and say "you have his hands," describing it as done "with a lulling sadness." The screening of The Deputy marked Cobain's return to public red carpet events after years away.
