ALLEGED DAEJON LOVE VICTIM SAYS SHE REPORTED HIM TO 49ERS IN 2025

Gwen Herndon, who says she is a victim of Daejon Love, has said she reported him to the San Francisco 49ers in December 2025, months before the club has said it first learned of him. According to a report by ESPN, Herndon submitted a complaint form through the 49ers' website on 20 December 2025. In it, she alleged that Love had posed as a player on the team as part of a wider scheme and had stolen money from women. The 49ers have said, through information given to ESPN by an unnamed team source, that they did not know about Love until the FBI contacted the club in August 2026. Love is alleged to have posed as a 49ers player as part of the scheme now under federal investigation.

Herndon's message to the club stated that a federal investigation surrounded a man pretending to be a 49ers player, and named Love. She wrote that he was "severely damaging the reputation" of the team and said she hoped the club would be "proactive in denouncing his involvement." Herndon said she received a reply around a week later from guest services at Levi's Stadium, the 49ers' home ground. The response said the team takes reports of individuals misrepresenting themselves as 49ers players "very seriously." It added that the club could not comment on ongoing investigations or named individuals for safety and legal reasons, and encouraged her to contact law enforcement or legal authorities directly. The reply said internal staff would monitor instances of impersonation and act to protect fans and the club's reputation.

The account sets out a gap between the 49ers' stated timeline and Herndon's record of contacting the club seven months earlier. Her message referred to a federal investigation into Love, though the reports do not detail any formal charges against him. Neither the 49ers nor Herndon has issued further public comment beyond the material reported by ESPN. The case remains unresolved amid the differing accounts of when the club became aware of Love's alleged activities.
