ZION WILLIAMSON MOVES TO DISMISS JANE DOE LAWSUIT
Zion Williamson has filed court papers seeking to dismiss a civil lawsuit brought against him by a woman identified in the case as Jane Doe. According to legal documents reported this week, the New Orleans Pelicans player issued a general denial of every allegation in Doe's complaint. Williamson has described their relationship as a consensual "friends with benefits" arrangement, rejecting Doe's claim that the two were involved in a long-term relationship. He denies ever assaulting her. Doe filed the 12-page complaint in Los Angeles in May 2025.
The complaint alleges the relationship began during Williamson's freshman year at Duke University in 2018 and continued until 2023. It accuses him of a "continuing pattern of abusive, controlling and threatening behaviour," including alleged threats against Doe and her family. The filing also claims Williamson was under the influence of alcohol or drugs during a number of the alleged incidents. Several allegations of physical harm are set out in the lawsuit, though none have been established as fact in court. Doe's attorney, Sam E. Taylor of The Lanier Law Firm, said in May 2025 that the case was "very serious" and that his client looked forward to "her day in court to seek justice."
In his response, Williamson argues that several of Doe's claims fall outside the applicable statutes of limitations. His filing states that none of the alleged conduct took place in California, North Carolina, Texas or Louisiana, the locations named in the lawsuit, or anywhere else. Williamson's legal team issued a denial of the allegations when the lawsuit was first filed in May 2025. The case remains before the courts in Los Angeles.
