EIGHT SLEEP LAUNCHES POD 6 SMART MATTRESS COVER
Eight Sleep has launched the Pod 6, a new generation of its smart sleep system, the company said. The system features a redesigned hub that the company says is roughly half the size of its predecessor, small enough to fit under most standard bed frames. For the first time since the Pod launched in 2019, customers can choose solo-size configurations, including twin XL and half sizes for queen, king and California king mattresses, alongside the standard dual-zone sizes built for couples. Eight Sleep chief executive and co-founder Matteo Franceschetti said the hub redesign required "a more efficient approach to the system's internal architecture, thermal management, fluid movement and overall packaging" while increasing thermal power. The system is available for purchase now.
The Pod 6 pumps temperature-controlled water through an included mattress cover to regulate a sleeper's temperature, with Eight Sleep saying the redesigned hub delivers a faster temperature response than the Pod 5, with the company citing improvements of around 20 percent in one account and 40 to 50 percent in another. The new models include substantially more biometric sensors per side than the Pod 5, tracking heart rate, breath rate, heart rate variability, snoring and sleep stages without a wearable device, feeding an AI-powered Autopilot system that adjusts the cover automatically. Franceschetti said the greater sensor density improves precision and consistent tracking as a sleeper changes position through the night. Pricing starts at $1,999 for the solo-size model, described as the lowest starting price the company has offered, while standard couples' sizes start at $2,699, rising to around $3,000 depending on mattress size.
Every Pod 6 model requires a separate Autopilot subscription, priced between $17 and $25 per month, on top of the hardware cost. Franceschetti said the solo options respond to demand from people who want the Pod's tracking and temperature features for one side of a bed or for twin XL and split-mattress setups, rather than only for couples. The company described the launch as its most significant hardware update since the Pod line began. Eight Sleep said the Pod 6 range is intended to make its sleep-tracking and temperature-control technology more accessible to individual sleepers as well as couples.
