LACEY TURNER REVEALS MISCARRIAGE WHILE FILMING EASTENDERS

Lacey Turner, who is competing on Strictly Come Dancing, has said she suffered a miscarriage while working on the set of EastEnders. Turner told Prima magazine she "just carried on" in her role at the time rather than pausing to process what had happened. She said she had two miscarriages before the births of her children. Turner shares her children, daughters Dusty and Gipsy and son Trilby, with her husband, Matt Kay. She said colleagues were supportive when she eventually told them what she had been through, and that looking back she found her own reaction "quite sad".

Turner made her debut as Stacey Slater in EastEnders in 2004. Her character left Walford in 2010 after confessing to the murder of Archie Mitchell, fleeing the show on Christmas Day. During a four-year break from the soap, Turner took roles in the supernatural drama Bedlam, the military drama Our Girl and the BBC series Call the Midwife. She returned to EastEnders in 2014 and remained in the role until her character departed again in 2025, moving to Brazil to be closer to her off-screen brother, Sean. Turner said she has since learned to be "more in tune" with herself and to speak up.

Turner has signed up for Strictly Come Dancing after previously being asked to take part on multiple occasions. She said she agreed to join the show now because she is "nearly 40" and wants to start doing things that scare her. Turner said she wants to step outside her comfort zone and push herself to see what she is capable of. She is due to compete on the current series of the programme.
