PATRICK MAHOMES SIGNS RESTRUCTURED DEAL WORTH OVER $500M WITH CHIEFS
The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed a restructured contract with quarterback Patrick Mahomes that adds two years to his existing deal and takes his total compensation past $500 million. The new arrangement ties Mahomes to the Chiefs through the 2033 season. The confirmed value of the contract stands at $504.75 million, with incentives and escalators capable of pushing the figure beyond $520 million. Mahomes will average $63.1 million per year under the restructured terms.
Mahomes originally signed a 10-year, $450 million contract with the Chiefs in 2020, a deal that set a benchmark across the entire NFL. The Chiefs and Mahomes have reworked his contract regularly in the offseason, a practice that gives the franchise financial flexibility to build a competitive roster around him. The latest restructure follows a series of new quarterback deals — including those for Dak Prescott, Jordan Love, Joe Burrow and Josh Allen — that reset the market at the position. Prescott's deal had set a previous high with an average of $60 million per year. Mahomes spent the offseason rehabbing a torn ligament in his left knee, an injury sustained in December during a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, and has taken part in the Chiefs' full offseason programme.
Mahomes has won three Super Bowls with the Chiefs and holds two NFL Most Valuable Player awards. The Chiefs' mandatory three-day minicamp concludes on Thursday, marking the end of their offseason programme. Mahomes has been present on the field for the entirety of that programme during his recovery.
