MAN ADMITS SENDING KEMI BADENOCH THREATENING RACIST EMAILS

TUE 22 SEP 2026 UK POLITICS

A man has admitted sending a series of racist and threatening emails to Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch, a court has heard. One of the messages read, "when I was in the IRA I would have shot you f****** dead," with the sender claiming to have been a member of the organisation. The court heard that the emails left Badenoch and her husband "very upset". The man made the admission during the hearing, according to the proceedings.

The threat made against Badenoch directly referenced the IRA, the court heard. The message formed part of a wider series of racist emails sent to the Conservative leader, according to the case presented in court. The court also named Badenoch's husband as having been affected by the correspondence, alongside Badenoch herself. The man accepted responsibility for sending the emails when the case was heard.

The case concerns threatening and racist communications sent to the leader of one of the UK's main political parties. The court heard that the threats, including the reference to the IRA, caused distress to both Badenoch and her husband. The man entered his admission in relation to the emails during the hearing. The case described Badenoch as the serving leader of the Conservative Party at the time the messages were sent.
