A'JA WILSON RECORDS SECOND 1,000-POINT SEASON IN WNBA FIRST

MON 21 SEP 2026

A'ja Wilson has become the first player in WNBA history to record more than 1,000 points in two separate seasons, the Las Vegas Aces said. Wilson passed the milestone with 30 points in the Aces' 114-77 win over the Seattle Storm on Sunday, adding eight rebounds and four assists. The Aces marked the feat on social media, hailing Wilson as the league's most valuable player. It is the second time in her career she has passed 1,000 points in a season.

Wilson previously passed 1,000 points in 2024, finishing that season with 1,021, according to the Aces. She stood at 991 points before Sunday, after scoring 29 against the Storm previously. This season she is averaging 26.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.0 blocks per game, putting her top of the league for points and blocks and fourth for rebounds. In June, also against the Storm, Wilson became the fastest player to reach 6,000 career points, doing so in 278 games, beating Diana Taurasi's previous record of 291. Aces head coach Becky Hammon said Wilson "continues to get better" and that there is "not any offensive area that she can't do."

Wilson, a four-time WNBA MVP, is leading the Aces' bid for back-to-back championships this season. Dawn Staley said Wilson is already the best player in WNBA history and backed her for MVP, saying "there is nobody doing it like A'ja" and that anyone who disagreed should "argue with a wall." The Aces have pointed to Wilson's scoring, rebounding and shot-blocking as central to their title defence. Her league-leading blocks total this season has strengthened her case for the WNBA's Defensive Player of the Year award.
