OLIVIA MILES BREAKS CAITLIN CLARK'S WNBA ROOKIE SCORING RECORD

MON 21 SEP 2026

Minnesota Lynx guard Olivia Miles broke Caitlin Clark's WNBA rookie scoring record on Sunday during the Lynx's 101-89 victory over the Connecticut Sun. Miles finished with 21 points and six assists, having entered the game tied with Clark on 769 points. She moved to the top of the list after making a free throw 29 seconds into the second quarter. Both players reached the milestone in their 40th game. The result kept the Lynx's record as the best in the WNBA this season.

Miles was 7 of 10 from the field and made all six of her free-throw attempts, despite going scoreless in the first quarter. She is averaging 19.7 points, 6.0 assists and 4.7 rebounds this season. Selected second overall in the draft after playing college basketball at Notre Dame and TCU, Miles was also named an All-Star in her rookie season. "It's special, but it means we're more so working well as a team. I have great teammates around me, great vets who allow me to be me out there," she said, crediting her coach and teammates for the achievement.

The scoring record is the latest of several rookie marks Miles has taken from Clark this season. On 4 June, she made eight three-pointers in a win over Golden State, setting the WNBA rookie record for threes in a single game, one more than Clark's previous best. Miles also became the fastest rookie to reach 350 points, 100 rebounds and 100 assists, achieving the feat in 21 games — one game faster than both Clark and former Charlotte Sting guard Andrea Stinson.
