JAYDEN DANIELS CARTED OFF WITH ELBOW INJURY VS COWBOYS
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was carted off after injuring his left arm on the final play of the first half against the Dallas Cowboys. With three seconds left before the break and the Commanders on the Dallas one-yard line, Daniels was stepped on by one of his own linemen as he dropped back to pass. He landed on his elbow and remained on the ground after throwing the ball anyway. Fox analyst Tom Brady said on the broadcast that he had not expected to see the injury. Daniels' status for the rest of the game was not immediately confirmed.
Daniels dislocated the same elbow last season, an injury that kept him out for ten games. The Commanders trailed 17-3 before rallying, with rookie kicker Drew Stevens landing a 27-yard field goal and Daniels throwing a four-yard touchdown to Stefon Diggs. The Cowboys led 17-10 at the break. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott completed 15 of 19 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns in the half, finding CeeDee Lamb from three yards and Dalton Schultz from ten. Lamb had six catches for 94 yards by half-time.
The Cowboys had scored on each of their first three possessions before being held to a three-and-out. The Commanders outgained Dallas 225 yards to 171 by half-time, according to game statistics. Daniels completed 11 of 17 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown, and ran for 69 yards on seven carries before leaving the game. His history of elbow trouble means a serious diagnosis could rule him out for an extended period. No update on his condition had been reported by the time of publication.
