MAN, 28, DIES AFTER STABBING IN CLERKENWELL, LONDON

SAT 19 SEP 2026 CRIME

A murder investigation is under way after a 28-year-old man was stabbed to death in Clerkenwell, central London, police have said. Officers and London Ambulance Service crews were called to Lloyd Baker Street, an area referred to as "millionaires' row", at around 11.20pm on Wednesday following reports of a stabbing. They found a man with stab wounds, who was later identified as Reece Salmon. He was taken to hospital, where he died on Thursday, 17 September. No arrests have been made, and the Metropolitan Police said officers are making urgent enquiries.

Mr Salmon's family said they are "utterly devastated" by the loss, describing him as "a loving partner and son" who "leaves behind many friends and loved ones", adding that it is "impossible to put our loss into words". Specially trained officers are supporting the family. Police have authorised a Section 60 order, giving officers enhanced powers to stop and search people and vehicles, covering the Caledonian Road, Clerkenwell and Hoxton areas.

Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart called it "a tragic incident" and said the thoughts of officers remain with Mr Salmon's family and friends. He said the public can expect to see additional officers in the area "providing visible reassurance" while working with partners to keep people safe. Stewart said the victim was found in a residential street and that members of the public may hold information "of vital importance" to the investigation. He appealed for anyone with relevant information to come forward. The Metropolitan Police have not confirmed any further details on suspects or motive.
