VICTORIA MBOKO RETIRES FROM SINGLES MATCH AFTER FALL

Victoria Mboko retired from her singles match against Karolína Plíšková during the second set after suffering a heavy fall. The Canadian player was unable to continue following the incident. Mboko had been competing in the singles draw when the fall occurred. Her withdrawal ended the match in Plíšková's favour.

Mboko is scheduled to partner Serena Williams in doubles on Thursday. The pair's participation in the doubles event had drawn attention ahead of the match. The retirement raises questions about Mboko's fitness ahead of that scheduled appearance, though no confirmation of a withdrawal from doubles has been issued. Her medical condition following the fall has not been detailed in official statements.

The doubles fixture between Mboko and Williams remains listed for Thursday. No announcement has been made regarding a change to that schedule. The outcome of Mboko's assessment will determine whether the pair take to the court as planned. Williams' participation in the doubles draw is unaffected by the singles retirement unless Mboko is formally withdrawn from the event.
