ALCÁNTARA RECORDS FIRST CAREER SAVE FOR MARLINS
Sandy Alcántara recorded the first save of his career for the Miami Marlins, two days after pitching 101 pitches in a start. He was deployed in relief on Wednesday as the Marlins attempt to keep their play-off hopes alive. According to reported standings, Miami trails the San Diego Padres by seven and a half games for the third and final National League wild-card spot. Alcántara leads Major League Baseball in starts, innings pitched and total pitches this season.
