PHILIPS HUE BRIDGE PRO PRICE RISES ACROSS US, UK AND EUROPE
Philips Hue has raised the price of its Bridge Pro smart home hub in the US, UK and across the Eurozone. In the US, the price rose from $99 to $139, an increase of roughly 40%. In the UK, the Bridge Pro now costs £129.99 in a Philips Hue "Autumn Glow-Up" sale, up from its launch price of £79.99, though it is currently discounted to £90.80 on Amazon. Across the Eurozone, the price rose from €99 to €149. According to 9to5Google, the changes took effect in August.
The Eurozone increase is the second this year for the device, which launched at €89 before rising to €99 in March, a total increase of around 51% since launch. The UK price has risen by around 35% since launch. Other Hue products have also gone up in price: multi-packs of Hue Essential lamps and spotlights have risen from €59.99 to €69.99, according to Hue Blog. The Bridge Pro is a hub that unlocks advanced control features for Philips Hue smart lighting. Both the Bridge Pro and the Hue Essential range were released only last year.
The price rises follow a period of expansion for Philips Hue, which recently launched more than a dozen new smart lights and accessories. Reports covering the changes noted that the increases affect products released only last year, rather than older, established lines. No official explanation for the price rises has been given, and Philips Hue has not been reported as commenting on the changes. It remains unclear whether further increases to Hue pricing are planned.
