ACCUSER IN JOSH JACOBS CASE SEEKS TO PERMANENTLY SEAL VIDEO

WED 16 SEP 2026 FOOTBALL

The woman involved in a criminal case against Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has filed a motion asking a court to permanently seal evidence in the case, including a video, according to reports. The filing follows an earlier motion from Jacobs's own lawyers, who sought to keep evidence in the case from being made public. A court order currently sealing the material is temporary, but the new motion, filed on behalf of Jacobs's former girlfriend, asks for a permanent seal instead. Her lawyers said on Tuesday that the filing "is consistent with our client's desire to protect her privacy," according to ESPN reporter Rob Demovsky. Reports described the case as relating to an alleged attack.

Jacobs's lawyers filed their motion before the accuser's filing, also seeking to limit public access to evidence in the case. Both filings concern material that reportedly includes a video described as central to the case. The current order keeping the evidence sealed is temporary, meaning the material could eventually become public unless a permanent order is granted. Reports did not detail the date or full circumstances of the alleged attack. The case remains before the court, with the sealing motions yet to be decided.

The National Football League is separately attempting to obtain the video as it considers the case involving Jacobs. NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport said on Sunday that the league is "trying all sorts of legal maneuvers" to secure access to the footage. The accuser's new motion for a permanent seal complicates those efforts, according to reports. The league has not said publicly how or when it intends to proceed.
