GEORGIA TAYLOR-BROWN WINS WORLD TRIATHLON SERIES FINALE IN CZECH REPUBLIC

MON 14 SEP 2026 OLYMPICS

Georgia Taylor-Brown won the final women's race of the World Triathlon Championship Series season at Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic, completing the 1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run in two hours three minutes and five seconds. She finished 36 seconds ahead of the United States' Taylor Spivey on a hilly course in wet conditions. Germany's Lisa Tertsch, the reigning series champion, came third, one minute 28 seconds back. Britain's Beth Potter finished sixth, almost two-and-a-half minutes behind Taylor-Brown. More than a quarter of the field did not finish the race.

In the men's race, France's Dorian Coninx won, with Britain's Alex Yee second, ten seconds behind. Yee, the reigning Olympic champion, was 19th after the bike leg but clawed back two minutes on the run for his best result of the season, after finishing fifth in Yokohama and 14th in London this year. His team-mate Jack Willis finished 20th. Taylor-Brown called herself "quite emotional" about the win, saying she "didn't think I was ever going to get there again" and had settled for finishing in the top six — Sunday's race was her first WCTS victory since 2023.

Taylor-Brown has focused on longer-distance racing this season, winning the T100 tour in Spain in May; her previous best WCTS result in 2026 was fourth in Samarkand in April. Kate Waugh finished tenth and Sian Rainsley 14th, while Olivia Mathias did not finish. Potter's result meant she could not close the gap on overall series leader Cassandra Beaugrand, of France, who did not compete at Karlovy Vary. Beaugrand leads the standings with the maximum 4,000 points ahead of the WCTS Grand Final in Pontevedra, Spain, on 26 September.
