ISRAELI STRIKE KILLS TWO IN GAZA, FORCES DETAIN PALESTINIANS IN WEST BANK
An Israeli air strike on a vehicle in Gaza City's Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood killed at least two people and wounded 13 others on Sunday, medics said. Health officials said the bodies had been dismembered and appealed for help identifying them. The Israeli military said it had targeted two Hamas fighters. Footage circulating on social media showed the vehicle mangled, with its roof and doors torn away. The same day, Israeli forces detained several Palestinians and Israeli settlers attacked homes during raids across the West Bank, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.
Gaza health authorities said more than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect last October. Hamas has accused Israel of violating the ceasefire and of obstructing a US-brokered plan covering an eventual Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the disarmament of Hamas. Gaza's Ministry of Health said hospital generators had stopped working because of fuel shortages, with Israel allowing in only enough oil to meet emergency needs. In the West Bank, Wafa said Israeli forces detained eight Palestinians in Jenin and two teenagers at a home in Bethlehem.
Speaking in Ireland on Saturday, US President Donald Trump defended his administration's record on Gaza. He said there is "very little happening right now" in the territory and that "we put out the fire." The Gaza strike was described as the latest in a series of near-daily Israeli attacks since the ceasefire began. In the West Bank, Wafa reported settler attacks on homes and vehicles in Yasuf and Burqa, and said bulldozers had begun levelling Palestinian-owned land near Al-Mughayyir to allow settler access, according to village council head Amin Abu Alia.
