PREGNANT WOMAN SHOT DEAD IN GAZA AS ATTACKS KILL TEN IN 48 HOURS
A pregnant Palestinian woman, named as Iman Shalouf, died on Saturday after being shot in the head inside her family's tent in the al-Mawasi area south of Khan Younis, according to her family and medical workers. She was nearly eight months pregnant and had chosen the name Ayoub for her unborn son, due in November. Shalouf was taken to Nasser Hospital, where doctors detected the baby's heartbeat before both died hours later. The Israel Defence Forces said it was looking into the incident.
Shalouf's mother-in-law, Wathfa abu Mashi, said she heard gunfire while praying and found Shalouf covered in blood in the tent. Her husband, Ismail abu Mashi, said the ceasefire agreement reached in October 2025 had not stopped the killing, adding that people were dying in Gaza every day. Gaza's health ministry said 10 Palestinians were killed and 56 wounded in attacks over 48 hours, including four members of one family, named as Momen Ahmed, his wife Haneen Saleh and their daughters Lana and Bana, in Beit Lahiya, and six others in Khan Younis and Gaza City. Relatives later held funeral prayers for Shalouf and her son before burying them together in Khan Younis.
The Israel Defence Forces gave no further detail on the shooting beyond confirming it was looking into what happened. Reports said violence and killings have continued in Gaza on a near-daily basis since the ceasefire agreement was reached in October 2025. Separate reports described intensified violence by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank. No timeframe has been given for any findings from the Israeli military's review.
