JENNIFER LAWRENCE JOINS INSTAGRAM, WARNS AGAINST NEGATIVE COMMENTS

FRI 11 SEP 2026

Jennifer Lawrence created a public Instagram account on Wednesday, attracting more than 1.8 million followers within days. In her inaugural video post, the actor stated she would "quit immediately" if anyone posted negative comments. She wrote in her Instagram story: "Please be mindful that any mean or aggressive comments can negatively affect the baby. It's me. I'm the baby." Lawrence selected the handle @jlaw after finding her full name already taken on the platform.

Several public figures commented on her initial posts to express support, including actresses Lily Collins and Amelia Dimoldenberg, and actor Noah Schnapp. Lawrence has previously discussed her approach to public life and media appearances. In recent interviews, she described her past demeanour in press events as a "defence mechanism" adopted to navigate fame, noting she had felt rejected "for my personality" rather than her work or political views. She acknowledged that her earlier public persona came across as "annoying" to audiences.

Lawrence's career began with her breakout role in the 2010 independent film Winter's Bone, which earned her nominations for the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards and Academy Awards.
